WHAT PEOPLE SAY

WHAT PEOPLE SAY

Hmmm…. A lot of it resonated. I really liked your comments about “how you know you have forgiven someone” apparently I thought I had forgiven but it appears I may have some more work to do on myself 😂😂🙏🏿
Mrs. O
That forgiveness story was phenomenal. The story of the male speaker was really thought provoking. The Female speaker telling the story of her class mate and how that people should be intentional about paying attention to others when it really matters is important also enabled me to reevaluate what I do with my relationship with others. All this, I don't have time, I don't have time is just an excuse alot of times.
Mrs. B
MY JOURNEY THROUGH DEPRESSION 2022 was ushered in amidst great expectations and very valid plans. I was on my mark, set and ready for the new year's takeoff. Then from no where, sickness struck. Not me but my little boy. All prescriptions, even by the paediatric specialists failed. Then came unenvisaged extended family crisis with associated financial and emotional capital to be invested in order to achieve a solution. Then came academic and career advancement deadlines which needed to be met. With the pressure from all this and from several other work place stressors, I convinced myself that I'm justified expressing regrets over the many decisions I've ever taken in life; some of which yielded poor results. That was how slowly but steadily I slipped into depression., moderate depression. And then fear and anxiety took over. I saw all roads closed and my life probably ending short of my life's most wonderful dreams. At this juncture I contacted a mental health specialist who placed me on antidepressants. Then I reached out to Mrs Stella Chinyere Nwankwo, a wonderful woman I'd gotten to know through a colleague. She became my counselor and instituted 3 key interventions: videos, psycho-education and physical exercise. We x-rayed my situation and mapped out a plan to work on and handle the many issues that were literally eating me up. We set deadlines and milestones. She called almost every day for us to discuss any progress made. She sent me videos to watch and encouraged me to do those things that could help resolve my depression and get me off the drugs earlier than might otherwise be possible. Insomnia became a big challenge as well. Stella encouraged me even as I took my drugs and got spiritual support from family and friends. With the exercise, I started with three thousand steps per day and gradually increased 10 thousand steps on one occasion. From 5 goals initially set, we gradually moved to 2 and honed in on one which was finally achieved. Barely 3 months down the line, I'm out of depression. My carrier achievement deadlines were met. We will reset the focus on another goal and commence work on it. I remain eternally grateful to Stella for her role in helping me come out of depression even when she, being human, definitely has her own personal challenges. May the hands that water be watered.
